About Us

Academic Editing Canada is based out of Hamilton, Ontario. Our goal is to provide affordable and prompt copyediting to students in all academic disciplines and levels, as well as work with local businesses and creative individuals in writing and perfecting their communication materials (web and print).

Dr. Kathryn Allan earned her PhD in English Literature from McMaster University (2010). She also holds an MA in English (McMaster), a BA in English (University of Calgary) and a BA in Communication Studies (University of Calgary).

Dissertation Coaching

Kathryn offers dissertation or thesis coaching for graduate students (Master's and Doctoral) who need extra guidance during their thesis writing process (from organization to managing thesis anxiety).

Students can arrange for either short- or long-term coaching arrangements. The consultation schedule & fee is tailored to fit individual needs.

Basic Monthly Plan ranges from $150 - $450 (using telephone/Skype conversations + email support).

 

 

Getting a Quote

To provide you with a cost estimate for your project, please provide the following:

(1) The length of the project.

(2) When you require the work returned to you.

(3) What kind of editing you need (i.e. work on grammar & word choice or more intensive structural considerations).

(4) Small sample (5 pages) of work to be edited.

Editing Service Rates

For all projects, a quote will be based on a negotiated hourly rate.

Hourly Rate starts at $35/hour.

Based on project length, time-frame for return, and difficulty, we will propose an hourly work rate and estimated overall project cost. Generally, the longer the time frame, the lower the quote.

Every client is given the fairest rate possible for their particular editing needs.

Document Formats

We use the 'Track Changes' feature in Microsoft Word. This allows you to easily see all the changes made to your document.

If you do not use MS Word, simply let us know and we will edit your document in an alternate format.

Payment Options

We strongly prefer that clients make credit card/funds payment through PayPal.

For Canadian clients only, we also accept payment by personal cheque (please indicate this payment type before work begins).

Academic Honesty

We do not write essays for students. Our goal is to improve your ability to effectively communicate your own ideas.

We adhere to all formal citation guidelines relevant to your discipline (MLA, APA, Chicago, Harvard, etc.).
